Omg rocks are called crystals now

Mæx Wellington • 9 months ago

Well, technically....

Adam Butt • 1 year ago

Damn that was a twist. I didn't expect that to happen to Raphtalia.

Mæx Wellington • 9 months ago

I just came off of watching Jobless Reincarnation Season 2, so this hit kinda hard.

Imperial • 1 year ago

Set it into < Spoiler > tags please

LesK • 9 months ago

considering the episode in question came out in Japan around May 25th 2022 and Adam Butt comment was made on June 25th 2022... anybody complaining about spoilers on an episode's content that is ALREADY a month old is like somebody TODAY complaining about spoilers on Cheers or The Andy Griffith Show or MASH... the rule of thumb most folks with good netiquette use is SEVEN DAYS... or this example, if @AdamAdam Butt wrote a comment about the events of ep7 in ep8's comments they would NOT be considered rude since the events in ep7 were a week old.

jon • 8 months ago

I'd argue that rule doesn't entirely fit here. Everyone here is actively watching the show and you can't assume someone's watched the entire thing even if it's old content, so despite episode 8 coming out on May 25, 2022 if I were to go into the comments from the episode 7 right now and talk about what happens in episode 8 it would still be a spoiler.

In the case of Adam's comment here, even if the comment was made the second the episode was uploaded (maybe the person had watched the raw Japanese version when it aired live before any subbed version was made, typed up a comment, and was waiting to copy and paste it into a comment here) it wouldn't be a spoiler because this is the place for people to talk about what happened in the episode.

Someone you know • 1 year ago

I think most people watch the episode and then go to the comments. Not the other way around

Imperial • 1 year ago

Not in my case, I'm always the 1% percenter
The unusual is my usual haha

jon • 1 year ago

While that might be the case, there's no need for people to use spoiler tags to comment about the current episode. The comment section is for discussing what happened in that episode, so the expectation is that everyone in the comment section has seen the episode. Complaining about people commenting about the current episode is along the lines of googling "what happens in shield hero season 2 episode 8" and then complaining that the page you go to has spoilers for what happens in season 2 episode 8.

Imperial • 1 year ago

No. It's not like googling because you'd need to actively google
VS the passive reading by your subconsciousness.

jon • 1 year ago

As opposed to actively clicking show comments? Either way you're taking an action to look in an area designed for people to talk about what happens in an episode.

AnimeJunki3 • 10 months ago

What did you think comment section was for? To speculate on an episode that you can watch now itself?!

That's kinda dumb NGL...

Mæx Wellington • 9 months ago

It is a risk you face reading the comments beforehand. Remember that the comment section is here for us to communicate with each other on what happened with the current episode; a way for us to stay connected and feel that, in a small way, we are connected.

So an analogy would be that your friends all watched a 7:30 showing and are talking about what they just witnessed in all their stuper, then you yelling at them "NO SPOILERS CAUSE I AM LATE AND CAN'T WATCH IT UNTIL THE 9PM SHOW!" Who then is in the wrong? The ones who are excited to bond over a shared experience, or the one who wants everyone to bottle that excitement, letting it simmer and cool, until they can come back with their own fresh excitement to partake?

Someone you know • 1 year ago

There is always someone out there I guess, but cool fact after all these years I completely forgot that some people do it the other way around.

Mayuta • 1 year ago

Rephtalia is adorable in this episode, it heartbreaking she was life behind. Now the shield hero is without, Filo and Rephtalia 😭. I hope they get back to together soon! 🤧

Mæx Wellington • 9 months ago

NGL I thought that Filo reverted into an egg and the hero girl ate her, but I am feeling bittersweet to know the truth. I guess especially now that Raphtalia is in kid form, and the flashback, it does entice that "must protect" feelings still lingering from the start of Season 1.

I also feel bad for Naoufumi, who won't have his waifus to keep him from losing control now.

Imperial • 1 year ago

Yeah I'd totally give her my portion of the food!
OwO

Dark'nAlone • 1 year ago

The music of this anime always gets my heart. Right at the start of this episode when they were climbing wall and it started.

The music fits so well. It's one of the major reasons I LOVED Shield Hero anime to begin with.

Depressing ending... 🙂🥲🥺 😭

Roronoa05 • 1 year ago

These third rate villains 🤦🏻

Mæx Wellington • 9 months ago

to be fair, I did think it was the sword hero for a second there... That would have been an interesting episode where the 3 cardinal jerks teamed up with the villain.

But then it turned out to be as you said.

Tihim • 1 year ago

Umm we got a new best girl now, the fishing rod girl.

Mæx Wellington • 9 months ago

I am sorta getting magical girl vibes from her. That said, I am kinda surprised they didn't start talking Japanese.

Mauphillips • 1 year ago

Well, that is strange, why did she not go, I don't understand.

Mæx Wellington • 9 months ago

My guess is that whatever notion that allowed the lacky to use the dragon hourglass also allowed the jerk to pick and choose who gets to teleport. So he purposely took Filo to begin with, barred Raphtalia, and will pick off Rishia next in order to torture Naofumi into the depression of not being able to save anyone.

Chuck D. Norris • 1 year ago

I see Naofumi is Anakin

Mæx Wellington • 9 months ago

Let's hope he chooses the Tortoise side then.

Kimmiepickachu • 1 year ago

Watching Raphtalia cut into the that fake wall with her little sword was awesome!
Arrrrh... anyone hurt a hair on Raphtalia head needs to die. I don't want an episode without Raphtalia in it. ☹️

Mæx Wellington • 9 months ago

I am totally feeling those must protect vibes too.

Imperial • 1 year ago

That's quite drastic mate.
A hair is never worth as much as someone's life.

Daisy has a Gun • 1 year ago

it's awkward since the voice actor died, but I don't think this voice was the right re-cast tbh

Mæx Wellington • 9 months ago

It is a decent one at least. They are trying to go for the same energy which is nice.

I have seen recasts that tried taking it in a whole new direction, which really sucked.

Crazymic79 • 1 year ago

meh, this season is lackluster

Troy Pickett • 1 year ago

Maybe the last episode or two drug on but the fight with the spirit tortoise was great and this are just starting to get good. Give it more time before you start calling it lackluster

Mæx Wellington • 9 months ago

I am of two minds here... On the one hand, I do feel that it drags its feet a bit with exposition, but on the other, I am not too sure how to trim the fat on this season...

I mean without taking the time to bond with Ost and to understand Rishia's reasoning, I think it would have taken away too much weight of that final battle in the spirit shield. Same with this episode, where sharing that moment of memories and the feeling of starting over gave weight to Raphtalia being left behind...

I am just hoping this marbling is going to pay off for a juicy steak dinner (also, sorry for the food metaphors)

Finally, starting to get good again. Sucks we gotta wait for the dub eps to release.

Maverick • 1 year ago

Kazuki in dubs sounded like Gen (Dr. Stone). Perhaps, it's the same VA

Mæx Wellington • 9 months ago

I just checked who Kazuki was to find an answer for you.... First thing posted were a couple of pics, including a YT thumbnail titled "Raphtalia kills Kazuki"

so sorry I failed to find the info for you.

Maverick • 9 months ago

no need for that. I remember now who it is now. It's Mr. Brandon McInnis in dubs. I'm sometimes surprised by American or any English-speaking male VAs they sounded like teenagers like Matt Shipman and Bryce Papenbrook.

Mæx Wellington • 9 months ago

Not only males. There is a va named Stephanie Beard here in Canada who voiced Rini from Sailor Moon. Believe it or not, that's her actual voice. Then there are some like Tara Strong who can get a decent range of voices given how her voice box developped.

Being a male myself, I did try to research what gives a man a lower timber to their voice and it really didn't give any results.. no trick to gain the sultry sounds of Barry White or the compassionate command of Morgan Freeman. However, I did discover one hint that might help scratch the itch you presented when I read about Michael Jackson: Apparently, he kept up his vocal exercises through puberty and worked hard to keep reaching those child-like notes. Because of that, he had more of a dynamic range to his voice.

Tara Strong said something similar, that VAs take singing lessons to gain a more dynamic and controlled focus on their voices. Meanwhile, Japanese Animation Sponsors will push for one of their idols to gain a prevailing role with a singing bit (sometimes adding that song to the anime as part of their contract) just to gain free and extended publicity for said singer. Combining the two, the answer might be that English VAs focus on the quality of actors by training to push the range of their voices through vocal exercises becoming Jacks of All Trades (less VAs to pick from), while Japan focuses more on the quantity of voice actors they have and the mastery of getting their lines just like the producer wants, so not such a focus on that range.

... This plot keeps being weak :(, I'm out
